I set up Lattice People to change the perception of the recruitment industry.
As I have grown my family I have realised many things and the most important of these was that life is not linear, life isn’t set in stone and doesn’t follow a certain path towards a conclusion.
Life is a tapestry, a lattice, multi layered, multi directional. We are all individuals with dreams and ambitions, but we are workers, parents, volunteers, carers, sports enthusiastic, hobby junkies our lives are not lived on rails and we don’t all fit into a box.
I have set out to challenge the ‘norm’, the logic and replace some of this with emotion. I wanted to look under the layers of people whether you are running a business or a professional mum trying to return to work. I want to find out what people really want whether that’s when you are hiring or trying to find a job.
Being the mum of teenage girls and having managed many people from all generations I am concerned that the workplace is changing and that our current recruitment/resourcing models are not ‘fit for purpose’. We may believe that we have an online presence, our interviews techniques are up to date and that our staff are giving a great impression to our prospective candidates – but are they …….
I see and talk to a lot of people (oh and how I like to talk)! Talent is everywhere and in the most unlikely of places, but many agencies don’t have the time to talk as the pressure to hit their KPI’s is massive. I want to revive the art of conversation, to see the benefits of speaking to everyone and anyone, I still hold the belief that people are at the heart of every business and getting to know one another is the key to personal and professional fulfilment.
